About Morzine Maps
Hopefully this handy little collection of street maps, activity area maps, and ski & piste maps for Morzine will help you find your way around and make the most of this great region!
Situated about an hour and a half from Geneva, Avoriaz and Morzine are the main areas of the French side of the Portes du Soleil area. Morzine was originally al small Alpine farming village, and it has continued to develop into a modern town whilst maintaining its village feel and sense of tradition.
Morzine is the largest settlement of Les Portes du Soleil, and is home to approximately 3000 residents. Although it is situated at a relatively low 900 metres, a network of lifts reaches the panoramic Chamossière at 1800 metres. And Avoriaz, at 2100 metres, is accessible using the lift system, or is a 20 minute car ride away. Free shuttles now connect the centre of Morzine with all the lift systems.
The lifts marked on the piste map using straight black lines are of four types; button tow/drag, chair, telecabine and telepherique. They have the corresponding abbreviations:
- TK - téléski (drag)
- TS - télésiege (chair)
- TC - télécabine (gondola)
- TPH - téléphérique (cable car)
For télécabine think bubble car and for téléphérique think cable car. Anything prefixed/suffixed with “Express” means a 6 person modern fast chair lift.
