There's plenty going on in Morzine over the next few weeks, from sports events to music festivals, and if you're prepared to travel there's even more going on a bit further afield..

For a week at the end of July / beginning of August Les Gets will be hosting the Lounge Music Festival. The town will be transformed into a giant music venue, hosting a variety of artists with over 35 free concerts performed in different locations in Les Gets centre. This year it will be headlined by one of the very top names in French music - Florent Pagny.

Also in Les Gets from the 23rd to the 26th of July the first edition of Mountain Yogis takes place. Qualified instructors are there to offer a series of courses, workshops, and hikes for both beginners and experienced yogis and will teach you different techniques (Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Feldenkrais, Full Yoga, Yin Yoga, Hatha).

From the 29th July - 1st August the Lind’Art Festival takes place in the Vallée d'Aulps around Lake Montriond with concerts, films and exhibitions. The 8th edition of the festival explores the crossover between our cultural heritage and the natural environment.

From the 1st-7th in Les Gets the 4 Elements Festival takes place celebrating the Earth’s four elements (water, air, earth and fire) through activities that promote awareness of the richness of Les Gets’ identity and environment. The programme is geared to families and children with street shows, stories, exhibitions, and crafts such as learning to make kites, candles, water mills and land art.

On the 9th of August if you want a bit of punishment then the Morzine- Avoriaz Road bike hill climb takes place. From the main square in the centre of Morzine you will climb the 14.6km route up to Avoriaz. It's 860m vertical with a 6% average incline.

Finally in Geneva until the 9th August the Geneva Festival is taking place. Free concerts are held on four open air stages as well as stalls with food from around the world. On the 2nd August slowUp takes place - either by bike, foot, or rollerblades, you can travel the 30 km along the left shore of lake Geneva. The finale of the festival is a 55 minute lakeside fireworks display.

From the 12-15th August the Rock Oz'Arenes Festival takes place in Avenches, Switzerland in an ancient Roman amphitheatre. The Rock Oz'Arenes festival has been growing in popularity since it started in 1992, and this year has musicians including British singer Paloma Faith.
