After weeks of trying spring is here in Morzine!

Is the winter without end finally ending?

featured in News & reviews Author Rob Wood, Morzine Reporter Updated

For the past few weeks the only thing that has been consistent about the weather has been its inconsistency!, and last week was no exception with some high winds and lift closures, some sunshine and some great late season snow.

This week definitely sees the arrival of Spring, well and truly, with lots of sunshine and warmer temperatures and thankfully much lighter winds. With the exception of Monday when some cloud cover is likely, it looks like being a week of wall to wall sunshine.

The ever-important, and it seems ever changing, Jetstream starts the week on a Northerly shifting pattern and by the end of Monday it will up in a more spring- like position between Scotland and Scandinavia. It looks set to stay up there for a while now and this will bring nice settled sunny conditions this week and for the foreseeable future.

A large area of high pressure is currently in control over Central Europe and this too will help encourage the outbreak of Spring. Barometric pressure currently stands at around 1020Mb and this area should prove strong enough to repel the continuing areas of low pressure currently building out in the Atlantic. It looks likely the high pressure will push the low pressure areas up the Atlantic, past Ireland and towards Scandinavia.

Monday

Monday will be a largely cloudy day which may bring some very light snow flurries, but these wont amount to much on the ground. Winds will be light to moderate at around 10kmph and Northerly in direction. Daytime resort highs will be at around +5C.

Tuesday

A gloriously sunny spring day with plenty of uninterrupted sunshine. Winds will be very light at around 5kmph and Northerly in direction. Daytime resort highs may well get into double figures, with +12C a real possibility. Grab your sunscreen and a deck chair.

Wednesday

Any early cloud will soon burn off and be replaced by lovely Spring sunshine. Winds will again be very light at around 5km/h and be more variable in direction. Another warm spring day with daytime afternoon resort highs again set to break into double figures, with highs of around +12C again likely. So it’s another day for sunscreen and a deck chair.

Thursday

An almost carbon copy of Wednesday with uninterrupted glorious sunshine and very light variable winds. Temperatures again up at around +12C in the afternoon in resort.

Friday

Another mainly sunny and mild Spring day with plenty of sunshine. Winds will remain light and variable at around 4km/h. Potentially even warmer than of late, and afternoon resort highs may get up to around +14C. So it’s another day for sunscreen and a deck chair.

Saturday

Winds will be even lighter at around 2km/h and again variable in direction. Gloriously sunny again with daytime resort highs again well into double figures, with +13C likely.

Sunday

Another largely sunny day with only light cloud, winds will again be very light and variable at around 4kmph. A slight chance of a shower as the draws to a close, daytime highs will be again be well into double figures at around +13C.
