400km of trail running accessible from Morzine

48 permanent running trails to open this June

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Morzine Editor Updated

This summer trail runners will be able to take advantage of 48 trails dedicated to mountain running, covering a huge 400km area between France and Switzerland.

Trails will suit every level of fitness and experience, from easy (green), normal (blue), difficult (red) and expert (black) trails, of varying lengths and altitude.

Beginners can get started on some gentle loops setting out from Morzine or Les Gets, or for the more experienced runners there are some more difficult ridge line runs at altitude, a vertical kilometre and three new 'Enduro trail' routes, all set to open in June this year.

Regularly placed sign posts will help you find your way around although you can also get all the trail details on the Morzine Mountain Running website or pick up a pocket trail map from the tourist office for €2. An app is due to be launched soon too, where you'll be able to use GPS to see where you are on the trail at any given time and plan your routes - coming soon to Android and iOS.

You can also use the summer lift system in the Portes du Soleil to help you get around and link up some of the running routes; 23 lifts will be at your disposal giving you almost endless possibilities.

Read more about some of the running trails in the area and if you're into competitive running, take a look at our events calendar to find races you can sign up for this summer.
