L'Etale Restaurant Review

High Quality Local Cuisine & Excellent Service

featured in Restaurant reviews Author Megan Wallwork, Accounts Manager Updated

This renowned restaurant is in the ideal location in the centre of Morzine, close to both the Telepherique du Pleney and the Office du Tourisme where there is plenty of parking. It is a popular choice among both locals and holiday makers alike and I was glad to finally be able to give it a try.

The interior of the L'Etale has ample seating and there is also an outdoor covered, heated dining area for those that want to take in the mountain views. Although there were many traditional Savoyard classics on offer I was intrigued by the Plat du Jour. The dish was diots (sausages) in a white wine sauce with polenta and a side salad, all for just €10. It was absolutely delicious, the white wine sauce was extremely tasty and the salad was fresh and crisp. There was also plenty of it - portions seem to be extremely generous here. So much so that I couldn't squeeze in one of their amazing looking deserts for just €6.

As L'Etale is situated close enough to the bottom of the lift to be a viable lunchtime spot during a day’s skiing, I'll definitely be back again. If you are dining in the evening their homemade digestif looks to be a punchy end to a good meal which will certainly keep you warm for the walk home!

The restaurant is very versatile and is suitable for groups, families, non-skiers and special occasions. Even though they were busy, the service was very quick and efficient and always with a smile.

It is worth noting that the owner has just taken on the Yocé restaurant further down the road which I would certainly be keen to try if the quality of the food and service at the Etale is anything to go by.
