Morzine Dump Alert: 17th January 2015

Over the last 24 hours heavy snow has fallen in the Portes Du Soleil. Approximately 30 centimetres have fallen on the higher slopes of Avoriaz and approximately 15 to 20 centimetres have fallen in Morzine town.

The slopes are looking a lot whiter than they have for a while, the trees are loaded with snow and things have improved drastically. Whilst there are still rocks coming through in some off piste areas, and it is probably not too advisable to venture far off piste, the base layer is now a lot healthier.

One downside to the snow arriving at the weekend is that transfers in and out of town slowed down to the point where it was reported that the drive from Morzine to Les Gets was taking up to an hour! However, this is a small price to pay for the improved conditions.

More snow is predicted for the start of the week, and hopefully things are now back on track and conditions will continue to improve.
