Morzine Transport & Parking

 Transport & Parking in Morzine
Travelling to, from and around Morzine is a fairly straightforward affair, with easy access from Geneva airport via motorway and free public transport around town once you arrive. Several free and 'pay-and-display' carparks are available; or you could always take the train (nearest stations are Cluses and Thonon-les-Bains at about 30km from the resort), sit back and enjoy the journey!
Car Parking in Morzine
Morzine has three big 'pay & display' car parks as well as on street parking. The big car parks are situated by the Tourist Office, under the Plιney cable car and next to the church. For some car parks it is possible to buy 'abonnements' (pre-paid parking tickets) for the whole season, per month or just for the week.

Seasonal Rate (Winter)
La Crusaz - €260
Joux Plane - €260
Le Bourg - €215
Bazaine - €160

You must request a season parking pass in writing and address it to: Monsieur le Maire, Service de Police Municipal, 1 Place de l'Eglise, BP25, 74110, Morzine.

Monthly Rate:
Joux Plane - €100
La Crusaz - €100
Le Bourg - €85

Weekly Rate:
La Crusaz - €40
Joux Plane - €40 (free during the summer)
Le Bourg - €35 (free during the summer)

For weekly or monthly parking passes please contact the Municipal Police on +33 (0) 450 79 05 21.

There are also a number of parking spaces available at:
  • The Post Office

  • Place de la Mairie

  • The Sports Centre 'Palais des Sports'

  • Atray

  • Les Prodains cable car

  • NB. During the winter season the car parks Le Bourg, Joux Plane and La Crusaz are free from 7pm until 9am. This is to leave the roads empty so that they can be cleared of snow over night. If you find yourself parking over night in the wrong place your vehicle could be unceremoniously dragged away!

    Public Transport in Morzine
Morzine benefits from free regular shuttle buses and a little train that serve the centre and stop at the major ski-lifts. There is also a frequent free shuttle between Super Morzine and Le Pleney cable cars and a less regular service to neighbouring resorts that share the same ski-pass.

For a change of pace you could always hop on the horse and cart sightseeing tour 'La Caleche' next to the Tourist Office.

The bus station (Gare Routiere) can be found in College near to the Place du Marche; public buses run to Cluses and its mainline railway station with TGV connections. Thonon les Bains and Cluses are the closest train stations to Morzine. Find out timetables and prices from the SNCF on the link below.

There is also a public bus that runs fairly regularly from Geneva airport. It is well signposted from the terminal and takes about 2.5 hours to get to the resort, maybe longer in the busier months. You can buy a return ticket once you arrive or book over the phone or Internet. However, prices are higher than private transfers and will take longer.

Travelling between the Airport and Morzine
Geneva (CH) airport is the best and closest airport to use for Morzine at a distance of 65 km and takes approximately 1 hour depending on traffic and road conditions.

To travel from Geneva Airport you have the choice of scheduled bus, shared shuttle, hire car, taxi or tour operators. However, make sure you check with whomever you booked your accommodation in Chamonix with to see if they make arrangements for you anyway or as an 'optional extra'.

    Buses:
From Geneva Altibus provides a means for booking coaches on-line, with SAT being the principal operator for the route, and a timetable for buses departing Geneva Airport for all ski resorts, can be found at Geneva Ski Resort Bus Timetable

    Shared Shuttle:
ATS run shared minibuses which take you door-to-door from most airports in the region. Or see our Transfers listings page. From Geneva the cost one way is approximately €40. Booking on-line is recommended.

    Car hire:
Car hire can be arranged from each of the airports above and if there are several people travelling is not always an expensive option. Pre-booking is highly recommended if not obligatory. Try using Holiday Autos for the best searches and prices.

    Taxi:
Try Geneva-Taxi.com or see our Taxi listings.

    Tour Operators:
    Here there are two possibilities:
    1. you can book a Flight & Transfer with an operator which they sell through their agents/web-sites/call-centres - therefore is paid for in advance and you will appear on the transfer manifests
    2. you can make your own flight arrangements and upon arrival at the airport catch up with a rep from one of the companies and book onto their coaches

In both cases as the reps are unlikely to know where you are staying (they have no details as you made your own accommodation arrangements), make sure you establish the return journey procedures: give them the flight you are on, get the resort office's contact details and call on Thurday evening for transfer details/confirmation.

Option 2 is not guaranteed but is usually fine. You will have to pay the two journeys separately (as the return cannot be guaranteed till the end of the week).

See our Tour Operators listings for contact details
