Summertime Party Vibes in Morzine

With summer comes sangria & dancing and in Morzine, plenty of it

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Alice Gregr, Morzine Reporter Updated

It’s day four, you’ve topped up your tan, recovered in the shade and you’re ready for a party! That’s where we come in!  We’ve been hunting down the best sangria, the liveliest nights and the most popular shindigs! And trust me, there isn’t a shortage. The Portes du Soleil is willing and ready to help make your holiday here memorable or very forgettable- whichever way you want to look at it!

So you’ve come down off the mountain after a hike, ride or run and you’re after a good post exercise feed. But you want something with a bit of an Après feel. The bring your own meat BBQ at the L’Aubergade hotel in central Morzine is a great starting point. Every Tuesday you can pop down and a chef will cook you up a feast while you enjoy that well deserved pint. It runs throughout the summer and is a great place to meet like-minded Mountain lovers.

Beer Pong appears to be a particularly popular pastime in the Portes du Soleil at the moment – a team game that involves a lot of beer drinking - what’s not to like?! In groups, you try to bounce a ping-pong ball into a cup of beer and if successful the opposition has to drink it. It’s pretty simple really. It’s going on every Wednesday at Rude Lodge in Morzine and every Friday at L’Apres bar in Les Gets. Good luck, rather you than me!

If this all sounds a little rowdy for you but you still fancy a bit of a night out, don’t worry, there’s plenty of things going on with a much more chilled vibe. Rhodos Bar in Morzine is trying to tempt people in with a wide range of activities on offer. The quiz on a Thursday is popular with tourists, expats and locals alike and with 2 for 1 pizzas on offer it’s a fun evening out. They also do curry nights, free pool nights and an infamous open mic night.

If that’s too lively for you as well, then watching a film at Lac Montriond could be more your cup of tea. The event used to take place at the Lindarets bowl but has now moved down to the stunning backdrop of the lake. Starting off the season with the Star Wars epic “The empire strikes back” on the 8th July there are loads of films scheduled for the summer. You camp under the stars, and get plenty of food and drink with your ticket- it’s definitely one for the diary.

So I’ve covered the fun and the more relaxed but what about something a bit more lively?

Le Paradis nightclub is a good place to start. It reopened this winter and has gone down a storm ever since. On Tuesday’s it has a Retro rave which is particularly popular. Dress up and dance the night away to your favourite 80’s and 90’s tracks. After all, what makes a holiday memorable more than a night of crazy hair, denim and Take That?

If you fancy really letting your hair down, Inferno’s 3 for 2 Fridays is a good starting point. A chance to bask in the late evening sun on their huge terrace shouldn’t be missed. They’ve got loads coming up this year with BBQ’s, pool parties, Sunday roasts and drum and bass nights - so something for everyone!

Of course, you can always make your own fun! As we hit the beginning of July most of the bars and restaurants across Morzine, Les Gets and the rest of the PDS are opening their doors and hoping to tempt you in with lots of offers and events. Choose between cheap pints at the Haka Bar, shots at Coyotes, civilised wine at the Coup de Coeur and chilled home made beers at the Bec Jaune brewery. Whatever tickles your party palate, there’s something here waiting for you.

Tomorrow we take a look at the big events heading to Morzine in the summer. Whether you’re looking for a weekend full of music or a chance to find your inner leather-wearing biker, there’s a host of things on the summer calendar that will put your holiday on the map!
