Transition Snow Festival Acts to be Announced This Week

Avoriaz's new Mountain Festival is going to kick off this winter with a bang

Snowbombing, which has been running for over sixteen years, has become one of the biggest parties of the winter season. Last year’s event featured Fatboy Slim, Rudimental, Skrillex and Basement Jaxx were among the big name acts to perform at the event in Mayrhofen. So the announcement of a brand new “sister event” in Avoriaz was met recently with a great deal of interest and excitement, as well as speculation over who will be performing.

Later this week some of that speculation will be hopefully answered as the first acts to perform will be officially announced. The organisers have already stated that some of the acts are currently touring the UK summer festivals, so that should give some idea of what to expect.

The festival will run throughout the opening week of the winter, from the 13th to the 19th of December. Things will kick off on Sunday the 13th with a headlining opening show which will be outdoors on the snow. After that, throughout the week, nine venues will be used for après ski events on the piste, a pool party inside Aquariaz, a mountain evening meal and a barbecue in The Stash. As well as these the nightly headliners will perform at a venue called The Church.

Packages start from £100 for early bird deals, which includes accommodation and a festival wrist band. Packages including accommodation, lift pass, wrist band and coach travel from the UK range from £245 to £349, offering outstanding value.

Transition will begin as a smaller event than Snowbombing, with just 3,000 tickets available, but hopefully it will prove to be a huge success and grow over the coming years. The organisers have carefully chosen Avoriaz as the place to branch out to, telling us “We chose Avoriaz as it has amazing ski-in, ski-out accommodation that caters for all levels of customers (5*/4*/3*). The town is beautiful and has been voted the most snow sure resort in France and Europe! The Burton Stash Board Park and vast ski-terrain provided massive pull for the festival. The resort will be able to accommodate Snowbombing favourites such as The Reggae Shack, The Arctic Disco and The Ride and Seek Competition.”

With more details set to be released, expectations are high for what should be a great party to kick off the 2015/2016 winter season.
