The Largest Stage Sled Dog Race in the World Finished Yesterday

The French musher Rémy Coste and his dogs arrived in first place

One of the toughest sled dog races in the world, La Grande Odyssée started on Sunday January 10th in Les Carroz and took participants through Les Gets on its fourth stage on the 13th of January before finishing on January 20th at Val Cenis.

This race is reserved to pools of 12 to 14 dogs and crosses through some of the most beautiful mountain terrain in 10 stages including a night bivouac. They cover an impressive total distance of 600km with an altitude gain of 17000m.

The winner, Rémy Coste, had finished 2nd in the 2014 edition, and 3rd last year. The first place prize amounted to 15,000€, while there were also special awards.
