It may be raining outside, the sky may be grey and temperatures may be dropping but that certainly doesn’t mean Morzine’s summer of fun is over. There’s still loads of amazing stuff going on in the Portes du Soleil… so don’t dig your skis out just yet!

We’ve had an amazing summer so far with tens of thousands of people descending on Morzine for the Harley days weekend, families packing the place out for the kids festival and a the Pass'Portes weekend was hugely successful with people piling into the resort from all over the world.

The weather this year has also been incredible with temperatures soaring into the high 30’s causing water levels to drop and a hose pipe ban to be brought in. It’s been a bumper season and it looks set to continue for a good few weeks yet.

We still have the amazing Mont Blanc Rally weekend to look forward to. This takes place between the 3rd and 5th of September and sees racing cars speed around the region's roads, taking on some of the areas most famous ascents, like the Col de Joux Verte. The weekend, which forms part of the French Automobile championships, is a spectacle not to be missed.

If you missed the buzz and the excitement of the Pass’Portes du Soleil – don’t worry- we’ve still got the Morzine Downhill Cup to give you your biking adrenalin fix. Riders will descend from the Zore chairlift in the hope of winning a big cash prize at the end of it. It’s definitely not for the feint hearted but with a big party in the square in Morzine afterwards, it’s guaranteed to bring people in from far and wide. If it’s sporting entertainment like this that you’re after then some international Ice Hockey matches are being played in town at the Skoda arena. See the teams on ice on the 20th, 25th and 29th of August.

If you like your entertainment a little less daring and energetic, then there are also some great events coming up that might help to make your trip to the Portes du Soleil that extra little bit special. There’s an exhibition at the Palais de Sport, which looks at the work and life of Vincent Van Gogh. It runs from 10:00 everyday and features pictures from a number of different artists. If that doesn’t rock your boat, you could go on a historical tour of Morzine to learn all about the place. They run every Thursday between 10 and 11 in the morning. If you like being told facts and figures but aren’t too interested in history- then you’ll like this one - The cheese dairy tour takes place every Wednesday and Thursday morning at the L’Alpage Fruitiere in Morzine.

There are some more kid friendly events taking place as well over the last few weeks of the summer season. From model making workshops to magic shows and quidditch matches, there really is something for the whole family to get their teeth into. And of course, the weekly events that we’re all growing to know and love will continue to take place for a good few weeks yet. The bring your own meat BBQ and Sunday roast at the Aubergade, curry night at Rhodos and quiz night at Bar National in Saint Jean d’Aulps are also promising to be bigger and better than ever in the hope of seeing the season out with a bang.

It’s also not too late to get a multipass and enjoy everything Morzine has to offer. There’s a great deal of fun to be had across the region with swimming, tennis, ice skating, walks and trips around the mountains. Sadly, the weather doesn’t look that promising for the coming weeks. However, we can but hope. After all, we’ve got far too much left to do to have rain spoil our fun!
