Summer is Here!

The end of the quiet inter-season is nigh!

Although we still have a couple of weeks until the official start of summer in the Portes Du Soleil, restaurants, bars and some of the main tourist attractions are already opening their doors. Slowly Morzine is coming back to life after the post winter break and it’s looking like it’s going to be an amazing summer.

This Saturday (the 13th June) the Pleney lifts begin operating for mountain bikers and just down the road, walkers can start accessing Nyon by the bubble. The rest of the resort lifts are opening on Pass’Portes du Soleil weekend, which is the 26th June.

If the weather stays like it is, there’s no doubt both swimming pools in Morzine and Avoriaz will have bumper seasons. The outdoor pool in Morzine opens on the 26th June until the 30th August and Aquariaz in Avoiraz opens on July the 5th.

If you’re looking for some speed and excitement this summer, you don’t have to wait long now! The Fantasticable zip wire in Chatel is opening on Saturday as well. Check timings before you head up there as they vary throughout the season. If travelling at speeds of 100mph is too much for you, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a little longer for the slightly tamer “Summer Luge” in Morzine. That opens on the 4th July.

Remember, you can access some of these activities if you have a multi-pass for the summer season. You can start using it from the 13th of June until the 6th September and it gives you access to swimming pools, lakes, 2 pedestrian lifts, tennis courts, rinks, cultural sites and many other things. It’s 65€ for the full season and starts at around 2€ for a day pass. It’ll save you money and is your key to the Portes Du Soleil.

So although the Pass’portes weekend marks the official start of the summer season, the sun and the fact loads of activities are opening this weekend mean I think it’s safe to say: SUMMER IS HERE!
