Heavy rain and storms over bank holiday weekend have caused major disruption in and around Morzine.

The road to Les Gets had to be closed a number of times with the centre of the town flooded. There were also problems on the road to Thonon due to both concerns about landslides and the river bursting it's banks.

In Saint-Jean-D'Aulps, paths along the Dereche were cordoned off and a small bridge swept away with the force of the river. In Montriond people rushed to save their cars from a car park next to the river as water levels continued to rise.

Diggers have been out across the weekend in the centre of Morzine trying to move debris dragged onto the roads by the streams of water. A car park in the town was flooded. A number of cars were trapped and had to be towed out of the basement.

People were evacuated from their homes in Taninges after landslides threatened to sweep away their houses.

More rain is expected in the coming days -with people on Twitter and facebook saying it's already the highest they've ever seen the river.
