If the snow and the beautiful mountains haven’t got you feeling festive yet, the fact that there’s a bumper list of amazing things planned for Christmas and New Year certainly will!

Whether you want to have a quiet one with your family or you fancy a wild night on the town, there really is something for everyone in this beautiful Alpine resort. From fireworks to mulled wine, Morzine really is the place to be this Christmas & New Year.

The season in Morzine/Avoriaz starts properly on the 11th of December but there are loads of festive events happening even before that. A brand new Christmas festival opens in town on the 5th and 6th of December and we’re told if there’s some snow around some runs on the Pleney will be opened up for a pre season ski. The main road in town will be completely shut off for the event, which includes stalls, children’s activities, fashion shows and plenty of mulled wine. There’s also a Christmas market in Montriond on the 13th December. It’s the first time it’s taken place but promises to have lots of food, drink and events for all the family. A firm favourite in Morzine is the Farmhouse Christmas Fair, this is happening again this year, just head to the oldest building in town on the 6th December for more festive fun. It runs from 11 am until 9 pm and all proceeds go to the charity UNICEF.

There’s plenty planned for the run up to Christmas and for New Year as well. Santa arrives in town on the 19th December - you’ll be able to find him in the main tourist square in Morzine everyday until the 27th December, where there’s also lots of other entertainment happening. If you like a bit of carol singing then pop the 23rd of December in your diary. A gospel choir is taking over the main square between 4.30 and 6.30. That’s bound to get you in the Christmas spirit!

On Christmas Eve itself, there are some exciting events happening in the centre of town that promise to be magical. There’s a firework display across the Pleney at 18;30, which really will welcome Christmas in with a bang.

If going in search of a few glasses of wine is more your style and you’re looking for somewhere to go out over Christmas and New Year, then there’s no shortage of places hoping to tempt you in out of the cold. If you want a bit of a wild night out with dancing and music until late then look out for the Cavern, Le Paradis Nightclub and Coyotes. Chez Rogers, which has just had a facelift is also a good late party venue and is hosting a special party on New Years Eve with live music. You don’t need tickets, so just turn up if that’s the sort of party you’re looking for.

If live music is what you’re looking for then there are quite a few bars hosting music nights on New Years Eve. Beanies, which is also a good place for a quiet drink, will have Morzine favourites Zuri Aura playing to welcome in 2016 and over in Les Gets, the Cab Collective are playing in the Chamois d’Or.

If you’re looking for a quieter night out on New Years Eve, the Aubergade or the Bec Jaune might be the perfect spots for you. The team at the Aubergade are hosting a cocktail party and say it’ll be a quieter, understated affair. The Bec Jaune are doing two dinner sittings at 7 and 9 but other than that are just open as normal. Both of these are also excellent spots if you’re looking for the perfect hangover feed on New Years Day! The Aubergade is also throwing a big Christmas party on the 23rd of December with performances from The Pedestrians.

Talking of Christmas parties, Les Gets' brand new Luxury Spa is holding some opening parties, on the 6th December for Chalet Owners and the 18th December for Locals and tourists. Drinks, nibbles and special offers on treatments will make a perfect treat away from all the Christmas preparation stress!

We also love the Coup de Coeur as a nice quiet wine bar but on New Years Eve it’s bound to be busy as it backs onto the main square where a huge party is taking place! At 18:30 on the 31st the instructors from the ESF ski school will do a torch lit descent down the Pleney to start the party. This is usually spectacular and an extremely special event to be part of. From 9pm a DJ takes over and there’s free mulled wine on offer. Of course there will also be fireworks to celebrate the start of 2016.

Also for New Years Eve A HUGE party is going to take place on the slopes of the Nyon bowl at Inferno Bar Morzine. DJ Candyman is leading the party which starts at 1pm on the 31st December. Star Wars themed, Inferno Morzine says "The Slope Awakens" is an intergalactic adventure not to be missed!

So as you can see, there’s a wealth of events and parties to make your Christmas and New Year in Morzine extra special. Whether you’re staying in a chalet and being spoilt or whether you’re looking to get out and find a party, Morzine certainly is the perfect choice for a festive getaway. We’ll certainly be here and are ready to party with you – see you on the dance floor!
