Avoriaz Opening Information for 20th December

Avoriaz & parts of Chatel to open on Saturday 20th December

featured in News & reviews Author Ally MacLeod, Morzine Reporter Updated

There is no shying away from the lack of snow here in the Portes Du Soleil, and in response the Officials at SERMA Avoriaz have announced restricted access to the resort of Avoriaz from the 20th December.

In order to look after the guests of Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets over the Christmas week, the decision has been taken to put appropriate measures in place to prevent overcrowded slopes and dangerous conditions by providing equal opportunity for everyone wishing to ski.

Guests on Christmas Week will be served in this order of priority:

Pre-booking on skipass-avoriaz.com
Pre-booking by Avoriaz accommodation providers
Pre-booking by Tour Operators
Pre-booking by Avoriaz, Morzine and Montriond ski schools.

Once these passes have been issued, a quota of Avoriaz DAY passes will be made available the day before they are valid (you will be able to buy DAY passes on Saturday 20th December for Sunday 21st December) at the lift stations of Super Morzine, Ardent, Prodains, Pistes, Centre Avoriaz, and Elinka. Only up to 4 day passes will be sold per person.

Officials will be posted around the resort in order to relay up to date information to visitors on ticket availability.

Prices for an Avoriaz DAY Pass are as follows:
1 day adults : 40€
1 day children : 30€
1 day seniors : 36€

The list of lifts which will open this weekend, plus timings, can be found here. Those highlighted are provisionally going to open on Sunday 21st December. In addition to this, parts of Chatel will be open, areas will be assessed by piste patrol first thing tomorrow morning to confirm which lifts will open. Please note: Les Gets and Morzine will not be open.

This is a precautionary measure, and changes could be made depending on snow conditions. Snow can fall incredibly thick and fast here in the Portes Du Soleil, with conditions changing overnight in most cases. Everyone in resort is keen to maximise the potential of snowfalls during the week, and the news does by no means write off your week of skiing, but will allow you to enjoy the best of the current conditions!
