12000 Fans Turn Out For Simple Minds Free Concert
Monday night rocked in Morzine!
On Monday night, 80's rock band, Simple Minds, successfully serenaded a packed Morzine central square to great applause.
The band, fronted by one of the two remaining founding members, Scotsman Jim Kerr, blasted a repertoire of new songs and old favourites, accompanied by the strong vocals of their soulful support singer Sarah Brown.
It was their rendition of the internationally acclaimed 1985 hit “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” from the soundtrack of the John Hughes movie, The Breakfast Club, that really got the crowd cheering. They exited the stage after an hour of great music, but returned for a further twenty minutes of encores to the crowd’s delight. The show pulled the whole community into town, from tiny tots bopping on their parents shoulders, to the senior groupies clapping their hands above their heads. The square made for the perfect auditorium, with the surrounding balconies lined with happy party people.
The Bastille Day fireworks lit up the sky just five minutes after the end of Simple Minds’ set, which made for the perfect finale to an evening of rocking music.
