Morzine Activities - Indoor / Bad Weather
| Indoor / Bad Weather Activities in Morzine |
|
If you are unlucky enough to find yourself in Morzine when the rain is pouring and the wind is howling, or if you simply want to have a day off all of those extreme sports you've put your body through, there's no shortage of things for you to do in Morzine. Whether you fancy some pampering at a spa, want to catch a movie at the cinema, or take the kids to the sports park; here's a few suggestions to keep you entertained during your stay. |
|
| Arcades & 10 Pin Bowling |
|
Morzine's Coyote Bar has all your bad weather needs under one roof! It's two rooms make sure that every one is catered for, one with dancefloor and live DJ, the other with an array of arcade games, 3 bowling lanes and a few pool tables - both rooms have a bar. The bowling alley dates back to the 1970's - making it one of the oldest in France. On particularly bad weather days they will often open earlier than usual. |

| Beauty, Spa & Massage |
If you are not here for the outdoors ‘extreme’ lifestyle and would prefer a more relaxing break in Morzine, then you'll be pleased to hear that there is an altogether more pleasurable experience to be had at one of the many Spa and Beauty centres in town. There are a number of excellent beauticians in the town, offering massages, facials, manicures and body treatments - all designed to meet your needs, whether it be a hen weekend, or a day of girlie pampering for you and your friends.
Check out our Spas & Salons listings for further information. (Gentlemen, this is not a ladies restricted activity though, it's just as applicable for all you 'real men' out there who are not afraid to indulge in a spot of off-piste pampering!)
Of course, with all the sporting activities in Morzine, there are many qualified physiotherapists and masseurs in town to help take your daily stresses, aches and pains away. You can find listings of local masseurs, phyiotherapists and holistic practitioners in our Health & Fitness section. |

| Cinema |
Morzine has two cinemas: Cinéma Rex and Cinéma le Colibri, both showing the latest French and international films. If you want to see an English-language film find out beforehand whether it is being shown in French, English (version originale) or with subtitles (sous-titres). Watching a film with subtitles can be a great way to learn a few new French phrases - their usefulness will depend entirely on the kind of film you are watching though!

| Fitness & Sports Centre |
|
The Palais des Sports in Morzine is equipped with an indoor climbing wall, an ice rink and a gym. In the nearby surroundings of the Parc des Dérêches are the Olympic swimming pool, skate park, tennis courts, a horse riding centre and a children’s petting farm.
Many of the outdoor ativities are only open during the summer months but the climbing wall and ice rink are definitely a big hit when the winter weather isn’t looking too promising! |

| Museums & Galleries |
The Slate Workshop and Cowshed and Cheese Dairy are worth a visit if you have an interest in local produce and crafts. Monsieur Buet will be happy to introduce you to the history of his 200+ year old slate works and the dairy farmers conduct regular tours of their pastures and cheese-maturing cellars.
If you pop over to Les Gets you can visit the Museum of Mechanical Music, where there are all sorts of organs, music boxes and other strange devices. There are demonstrations by locals dressed up in period costume and the opportuntity to knock out a few tunes yourself.
Not a museum as such but still a fascinating part of local history, The Farmhouse is Morzine's oldest building. Built in 1771 and originally owned by the prominent Baud family it is now run as a hotel and restaurant. The bar and restaurant are open to all and you will often find a few locals in the bar, mingling with the guests; there are regular live music nights featuring local musicians. The restaurant features a large banquet style table where everyone eats together and swaps tales. If you are not staying at the hotel the hosts would appreciate it if you gave them 48 hours notice of your dinner reservation.
