Situated about an hour and a half from Geneva, Avoriaz and Morzine are the main areas of the French side of the Portes du Soleil area. Morzine was originally al small alpine farming village, and it has continued to develop into a modern alpine village whilst maintaining its village feel and sense of tradition.
Morzine is the largest settlement of Les Portes du Soleil, and is home to approximately 3000 residents. Although Morzine is at a relatively low 900 metres, a network of lifts reaches the panoramic Chamossière at 1800 mteres. And Avoriaz, at 2100 metres,is accesible using the lift system, or is a 20 minute car ride away.
